I think it is well known app, I dont have to write much. I have switched from SMS to WhatsApp to send and receive messages, calls, photos, videos, and Voice Messages.

Viber is similar to whatsapp, however it first introduced free calling feature. They also have a feature Viber Out, it can be used to make calls to non-Viber mobile and landline numbers at low rates.
